The Story<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Hey Ya’ll:\u00a0 \u00a0 The call me “The Papaw”.<\/p>

For the past several years, the wife and I have been raising one of our grandsons. He calls me Papaw. (P\u0103 with a short “a”, Pa paw, not paw paw).<\/p>

When he was 3 and was talking fairly well, he informed me that he was not my grandson, but instead, he was “Papaw’s son”, as the wife and I had discouraged him when he was wanting to call us mom and dad. He melted my heart that day with that kind of thinking for a 3 year old, and it wasn’t long until that soon became my nickname for him, “Papaw’s Son” (pronounced more like “Papawsun”).<\/p>

As he grew older, he got his own TV and android box where he could watch his own TV shows and movies streamed from our NAS via Kodi. It wasn’t long I found myself creating a personalized kid’s theme for Kodi as most of them out there were no longer being updated and working correctly.<\/p>

This here’s how it all began for PSMC!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

PSMC was Born<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Being retired from webdesign and knowing nothing about Kodi skins, I started with modding a popular working skin done by the awesome “SiLVO”.\u00a0 As time passed, I did my own fork of Kodi, which I named PSMC.<\/p>

PSMC is short for “Papaw’s Son Media Center”. (since that time, PSMC is now available for both Android & Windows).<\/p>

Over the years, I’ve since done various themes and animated themes for PSMC that include themes like “Man of Steel”, “Batman”, “Super Mario Galaxy”, “Scooby-Doo”, “Spiderman”, “Toy Story”, and a few others geared more for adults.<\/p>

I’ve also done some of my own addons for streaming, such as FuzzyBritches (yep, the wife’s nickname) and other addons for maintenance, gaming, etc.. Most all of them I continue to maintain and keep updated (when when time allows). BTW, everything I do is compatible with Kodi and other Kodi forks.<\/p>

Most everything I’ve done is still being included in the PSMC repositories as part of the “PSMC Collection” now.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Papawson Started Growing Up<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As he got older, we started home schooling just before Covid and have been since. We built a PC for him for school and I also set it up for gaming and gaming emulation as well. This led us into Launchbox\/Bigbox. I think he has 60,000+ games in his collection now.<\/p>

That’s when I got into doing themes and plugins for the LaunchBox\/BigBox.<\/p>

Well, I got the brainy idea to try to create a theme for Bigbox that matched a skin I had done for PSMC. Now there are many of them, including animated ones and I wound up calling all the gaming stuff “The PSGC Collection”, yep, short for “Papaw’s Son Gaming Center”.<\/p>

If you install PSMC and Bigbox\u00a0 on a decent Windows machine, along with an add-on available in the repo, you can jump back and forth between the two without ever having to exit back to the desktop. Install a couple more free addons and you can throw in some home automation with your remote or game controller. Giving you an “all-in-one” Gaming \/ Media Center experience!<\/p>

Papawson is getting older now, and his interests are changing, but I enjoy the creativity of it. So I decided to try my hand at sharing my efforts with others, first on BMAC and now here. (oh crap, back to web design).<\/p>

I am hoping that Papawson will take an interest in doing all this someday soon and I eventually can turn it all over to him .<\/p>
